Acquia Updates Solr Search, Hosting Stats, & Design Competition

Drupalipet

I’ve been working at Acquia for about 2 years now. Wow, what a ride it has been! The company has grown from 16 employees to over 60. It’s been incredible to experience this type of growth that only gets me more excited for what is to come. At the end of last year, we closed a Series B round of funding and now in the process of a Series C. Needless to say, I’m sitting at the edge of my seat to learn what our valuation will be.

When we first opened for business, we only provided support and consulting. Now, we have a full suite of services that include remote administration, high performance hosting, government consulting for Drupal, training, an infrastructure service for Solr Search, distribution offerings for OpenPublish and OpenScholar, and Drupal Gardens that enables people to rapidly build micro-sites through a theme builder. To sum it up, we provide all of the infrastructure that is needed for a large Enterprise to adopt and maximize their ROI on open source Drupal.

Anyway, back to my weekly update of Acquia.

1. New Solr Search functionality has been added to Acquia Search. Users can now implement multi-site search and document attachment search. Later, we’ll be adding geo-location capabilities, which will make Drupal the only CMS to have this search functionality.

2. Acquia Hosting stats are also now available through the Acquia Network. Clients of Acquia now have higher visibility into their usage. This has been a feature that clients have requested for a while. I’m happy we finally added it!

3. 20 Million search queries have been served over the past 3 months for our customers. I had no idea the amount was so large until I read Dries’ 1 year anniversy update on Acquia Search.

4. Completed case study with the New York State Senate. Warren Utt, VP of Sales, featured it in his update on our breadth of customers. Despite moving closer to heart of the Enterprise, we continue to attract more government agencies who are eager to adopt Drupal.

5. Drupal Commons, Acquia’s collaboration distribution of Drupal, continues to make progress. We haven’t officially released it, but I can tell you the date is around the corner.

6. Drupal Gardens has launched it’s second design competition. Enter for a chance to win an Apple iPad!
